Escola Universitária Vasco da Gama (Vasco da Gama University School) invites applications for full or part-time contract for Assistant Professor positions which will begin September 1st, 2021.

Required Education: Applicants must hold a DVM/VMD degree from e college of veterinary medicine and must hold a PhD degree.


Required Degree Equivalence/Recognition: Foreign applicants must be able to have their degrees recognized by a Portuguese Higher Education Institution.


Required Experience: Early career as well as more established applicants will be considered. Experience in veterinary clinics is valued, including relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Anaesthesia
  • Animal behaviour
  • Clinical diagnostic medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Reproduction
  • Public health
  • Surgery


Experience teaching at university level is valued.

Working languages: Portuguese, French and/or English.


Contract details: Employment contract details adjusted to working hours and evidenced experience.


Essential Functions

- Teach assigned undergraduate courses in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings;

- Prepare materials for teaching and participate in curriculum development activities;

- Attend meetings, participate in governance, and serve on university committees;

- Pursue professional development opportunities (i.e. presentations and publications);

- Serve as an academic advisor/supervisor for students and evaluate student coursework;

- Supervise laboratories, independent study activities, and off-campus training and learning;

- Engage in other extra activities to or in support of his or her responsibilities;

- Engage in other University-related activities to the professional or lay community;

- Other related duties as assigned.
